Membership

The VAHC is dedicated to encouraging the aquarium hobby in our local area. We meet monthly to discuss aquarium related topics and share our collective experiences. If you have any questions about the VAHC in general email Bart. If you have specific questions about membership benefits or how to become a member, email Rick.

Membership has its privileges

While non-members are welcome to attend our monthly meetings and the annual monster fall auction, there are a number of privileges for members only. These include:

  • Monthly Meetings - we meet most months to share our experiences with the aquarium hobby. Meetings start with a question and answer session, we usually have a speaker or some type of presentation and then we end with our mini-auctions of fish and plants. Everyone is welcome to attend but only members can sell at our monthly meetings. Email Bart for general club information.
  • Club Library - the club has a collection of hard cover references on a variety of aquarium related topics. In addition, we have back archives of periodicals as well as a current subscription to TFH magazine. Email Patrick for more information on the library.
  • The Fishmonger - our monthly club newsletter. We publish 8-10 editions a year and each one contains a variety of aquarium related articles and club news. For more information on the Fishmonger or this website, email Ron.
  • Discounts - your VAHC membership gives you 10-20% discounts at a number of local aquarium stores. Check the local store listings for more details.
  • Spring Member's Only Auction - a smaller auction open to current club members only. A great way to get rid of your extra fish, plants and gear or pick up a couple of bargains. More info here.
  • Fall Monster Aquatic Auction - our premiere auction of the year. Last year we had over 100 buyers and sellers and close to 1000 items changed hands. This auction is open to everyone but members get first choice at the limited number of seller openings. Email Dave for more information on any auction related matters.
